-What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, especially the spine.  Many factors in life such as stress, accidents, trauma, or other injuries can put pressure and create “subluxations” on your musculoskeletal and nervous system, thus greatly impeding proper body function and smooth nerve impulse transmission, eventually leading to severe disability or other complications. Chiropractic care can relieve the pressure by removing the subluxation with chiropractic adjustments and other physiotherapy techniques.  Chiropractic care is able to relieve the symptoms and treat the cause of the disorder to prevent future injuries.

-What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is a misalignment in the spine or other joints. Subluxation interferes with normal nerve impulse transmissions and body movements, which may lead to other complications or discomfort in the body.

-Does the adjustment hurt?

The adjustment is gentle, specific, and rarely causes discomfort. Sometimes patient may feel soreness or aching after the treatment, but the symptoms will usually resolve within 1-2 days.

-What does a chiropractor do?

A chiropractor utilizes a drug-free and hands-on approach to examine, diagnose, and formulate a treatment plan for the patient. A chiropractor focuses on removing subluxations in the spine or other joints to improve the function of the neuro-musculoskeletal system and the general well-being of the body. A chiropractor corrects the subluxations with chiropractic adjustment (or spinal manipulation), a treatment method which applies a precise force and speed to specific joints in areas of need to restore normal joint movement.

-Chiropractic techniques are effective for patients with these conditions, but not limited to:

  • Neck pain
  • Headache/migraine
  • TMJ pain
  • Whiplash injury
  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Hip and Knee disorders
  • Sports injuries

Besides chiropractic adjustments, chiropractors are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises. Additionally, nutritional advice and life style counseling will be provided based on patient’s specific needs.
